Week 3 complete of the dietary changes for Gout / Insulin Resistance…
We are retesting my Uric Acid (Gout) and Insulin levels next week. I also started on an antibiotic for my elevated white blood cell count. (Insulin Resistance is not diabetes – it is a malabsorption issue which causes the cells to block the absorption of insulin so your pancreas continues to produce it in an overabundance)
In my opinion, the meds, if they are helping internally, is not reflected symptomatically. My feet are still on π₯ even after a prescription, an OTC Tart Cherry supplement and the Uric Acid supplements.
My glucose is never elevated but we will see if the lowered carbs brings my Insulin Resistance down in a marked way. It will naturally be lower eating less carbs just because of the way your body breaks them down but will it have a marked difference overall?
The melatonin was a bust which I thought it would be. I have taken 20mg (normal dose is 5) and still no sleep… So yeah…..
This week was pretty good overall though… The changing weather and storms have made things a little rough but in general – I am going okay… Onwards and downwards!

If you aren’t familiar with my situation, basically I live with several autoimmune issues… an “inflammatory overstimulation response” brought on by my basic blood cells thinking they are Spartan Warriors and attacking everything in sight. [Mast Cell Activation Syndrome or MCAS is a main one but also fun things like Fibromyalgia, POTS, Histamine Intolerance, Insulin Resistance and on and on… ]
This is not water weight, not sodium retention and it doesn’t go away until the cells calm down and the actual muscle inflammation decreases. Everything swells – my muscles, my organs, my eyes…
Foods, chemicals, weather changes, environmental elements… literally, sometimes just existing fires them up. Some things I can control and otherwise it is a #justkeepswimming kinda life.
