💥 EPIC FAILS 💥
HERICIUM BEAUTY ISINGLASS SOUP
I bought this “soup” – which was a mix of dried ingredients, that for many of them, I had no clue what they were.

Yeah… Hard NO! Oh, so much no… Full details in the video but suffice to say it may have been the single most revolting experiment I’ve ever tried. 🤮

I messaged my cousin to see if she wanted me to keep it for her 😂

PURPLE RICE PUDDING BOWL
Blow by blow in the video but the short version is this. I was cooking, cooking, cooking – having a fun #experimentsineating day. Got one of the Ramen Broths started and decided to have breakfast.

Used a new food colorant (Ube / Purple Sweet Potato) – 3 drops in the rice pudding… Pretty pretty!

Ate 2 tbsps…

💣 Had an immediate and very big reaction – my eyes swelled, my tongue went numb, I lost feeling in my fingers, burning in my feet… It was very fast and lasted about 6 hours.

I laid down for several hours and then finished up the second broth but definitely did not feel like eating.

3 days a week, I cook meals for a neighbor who had a stroke last year and has limited mobility. We often share a meal kit or something similar and spend some time together since neither of us go out too much 😁

Today is one of her days. I’m enjoying having someone to cook for again.

I had the chance to spend the day with my cousin and we went over to Virginia. We had lunch at Ocean Samurai in Blacksburg, VA. I ordered 2 pretty plain rolls to avoid as much food reaction as possible and 2 appetizers and split them over the whole day.

Wayyyy over on carbs, but it was a lovely chance to spend time with her and I only ate once the day before (had over 1000 calories left over), so I wasn’t worried.

Not a fault of the recipe but of me completely… I have had the clams in the freezer for ages, I thawed them too quickly/impatiently, I didn’t cook off the wine first and I adjusted the recipe lazily…

I ate the clams, which looked beautiful, but the broth was not nice at all. I adjusted my tracking as I ate the veggies and clams out of it but didn’t eat the broth… Bleh! Again – not the recipes issue – totally on me…

I really missed my pickled bamboo in my last Ramen Bowl so I am going to make some with the leftover bamboo and bean sprouts.

The recipe above does not have vinegar, which I added or chili oil, which I’m not adding anyway…I used the Umami Mushroom Seasoning as a replacement for the chicken bouillon called for and again the result was fantastic! Now I need to do a noodle bowl tomorrow!

I got a my late start to eating today (after 6pm to start cooking) so this was my only meal today… I had ½ when I made it and finished the rest later.

I was also testing my theory that it was not the tempeh that created the horrible reaction a few weeks ago. I was wrong at least partially.

I was fine while eating it, but a few hours later (which is how it presented last time as well), my eye started itching and swelling. Not super bad, but noticed.

I am not allergic to soy, and I eat many soy based products but maybe there is something in the fermentation process of this specific product I am reacting to. Whatever the reason, no more for me. 😁

This reaction is nowhere near as intense, probably because the last one was 2 products and a higher amount, but we’ll see what happens by tomorrow. I took some antihistamines and I feel okay so maybe this is just a small warning.

I have been reorganizing my ZAPR (Zombie Apocalypse Pantry Room 🧟‍♀️😝🧟‍♀️) to make room for my last few Weee! orders. Weee! is an online Asian and Hispanic market I get a lot of my Asian goodies from.
